Show Notes

On this episode of Common Mystics, Jen and Jill sit down with paranormal investigator, psychic medium, and author Rebekah Carmichael to chat about her book, The Not-So-Scary Guide to Ghosts. Rebekah challenges some of the biggest assumptions about ghosts, explaining her fascinating ideas about different types of spirits, psychic development, and why connecting with the unseen doesn't have to be frightening. We also compare investigation styles, swap ghost stories, and discover we have more in common than we expected—including an encounter with one very famous pirate!

We also tackle some of the questions everyone wants answered: Are Ouija boards really dangerous? Can anyone develop psychic abilities? What separates a truly gifted psychic from a convincing fake? Plus, Rebekah shares practical advice for anyone just beginning their spiritual journey and reminds us that the spirit world may be a lot more welcoming—and a lot less scary—than we've been taught to believe.

[00:00:10] Speaker A: On this episode of Common Mystics, we welcome a very special guest. I'm Jennifer James. [00:00:16] Speaker B: I'm Jill Stanley. [00:00:18] Speaker A: We're psychics. We're sisters. We are common mystics. We find extraordinary stories in ordinary places. [00:00:26] Speaker C: But. [00:00:26] Speaker A: But today, we are so excited to welcome a special guest. [00:00:31] Speaker B: Jill. [00:00:31] Speaker A: Tell us all about her. [00:00:33] Speaker B: She is a social media sensation and the author of the not so Scary Guide to Ghosts. Please welcome Rebecca Carmichael. [00:00:41] Speaker A: Yay, Rebecca. So nice to meet you. Thank you for joining us. [00:00:46] Speaker C: Well, thank you for having me. [00:00:48] Speaker B: Can you tell us a little bit about your background and how you got to interact and have your spiritual awakening with ghosts? [00:00:58] Speaker C: Absolutely. Well, thank you for having me on the show. I absolutely love your intro. It's perfect. Sweet. Well, really with all of this, I didn't realize that I was having interaction with spirit for most of my life, whether that was really anything below the tier of God. Right. I grew up in Southern Baptist religious land, and there wasn't any room for ghosts or even sometimes connecting with past loved ones, even in a very kind and considerate and respectful way. And the issue with that is, as I was growing up, I. I had no way to verbalize what I was going through. I had no way to understand. And a lot of it was coming through as really scary because I had no language for it, and there were a lot of things going on. I'll skip all those details, but I came to a place in my life. I came to a literal place. Wilmington, North Carolina. And here I call it the most underrated haunted hotspot in the South. People talk about it now after having seen more of my content but before, nobody was talking about the haunted stuff going on in Wilmington. And for the first time in my life, I wasn't terrified of it. I lived in a very haunted home. There was a ghost in pretty much every room. Some of them were scary. Some of them were just doing their thing. And I finally got to a place in my own mental health where I got to really define what fear was for me as well as to define boundaries and what I was willing to put up with and what I wasn't. And all of that I shared on the Internet. I suppose, as one does, for better or for worse, I didn't fully know what was going on, but I started to share my experiences first as a ghost tour guide. And the running joke with the other tour guides was that they always knew when I was around because the activity just popped off. Like, people would get photos, they would get experiences, and I was just like, oh, that's so weird. I don't know why that would happen all the while. Right before going down to tours at night, I would go by my stops and I'd be like, hi, everybody. I'm coming on a tour not knowing if they can hear me or not because I shut all that down. I was too afraid. But I was just like, hi. I love it. [00:03:19] Speaker A: Talking to the ghosts on the tour. [00:03:21] Speaker C: Yeah, talking to the ghosts. I would go by the spots and like, I would be that kind of weirdo, dressed in all of my accoutrements, being like, hi, I'm gonna tell stories about you and it'd be cool if you wanted to come out. Okay, thanks. [00:03:33] Speaker B: Bye. I love it. I love it. [00:03:35] Speaker A: That's so funny. [00:03:38] Speaker C: But yeah, over time, I was able to overcome my fear of, like, understand what I was experiencing. And I shared those ups and downs on my page. I shared it through the form of skits because that's how I make sense in my head of things. I make skits and I'm like, okay, I think this is what was going on, even if I wasn't totally sure. But over time, I got more and more validation. I started working with people, I got more and more validation. And now, having had that experience, my own reawakening, I teach others how to have their reawakenings without fear. [00:04:13] Speaker B: I love that. [00:04:15] Speaker A: That's so cool. Because we are. We're scared of ghosts a lot of. [00:04:19] Speaker C: Most of the time. [00:04:21] Speaker A: Yeah, a lot. [00:04:21] Speaker B: A lot of the time. [00:04:22] Speaker A: Okay, so Jill, let's just like. You want to take turns? Jill? [00:04:27] Speaker B: Yes. [00:04:27] Speaker A: We. We're not really that prepared to do this, so we're just going to take turns and I'll start if that's okay. Is that okay, Jill? [00:04:34] Speaker B: That's wonderful. Please. Great. [00:04:36] Speaker A: So, Rebecca, I, you know, I read your book, the not so Scary Guide to Ghosts. So fascinating. Loved it. And one of the things that struck me early on is your unique definition of ghosts. Can you explain what ghosts are? [00:04:54] Speaker C: Yes. So from my experience, and I've also cross validated this with a lot of psychics who primarily focus on ghosts, but can also stretch their ability to talk with other frequencies of spirits as well. My definition comes down to a ghost is a piece or a fragment of the fuller soul. Now, that piece or fragment can come from any part of their life, any part that has a very strong emotional pull. And I say emotional pretty openly because I think sometimes people think, oh, it has to be negative. No, some go stay behind. Because they're like, When I was 35, I was the Hottest version of me ever. And I want people to appreciate that. I have met those folks before and I'm like, go off. Absolutely. Thank you, Queen. You know, like, we will appreciate you for those who can see you. But, you know, that's. That's cool. [00:05:48] Speaker B: Love it. [00:05:49] Speaker C: But yeah, with the fragmentation, I also find that in having this definition, it allows more psychic mediums to get along. Because I run into some psychic mediums who are very talented and they primarily speak with past loved ones who have gone, like, crossed over. They've done the work and they're now, you know, processed and perhaps on their way to becoming a guide or being reincarnate or, you know, just something next step related. And I thought I was like, how is it that, you know, all these other people can have ghost experiences? And then they say like, oh, either ghosts don't exist or they're not supposed to be here or there's something wrong. I was like, okay, how can we all get along? And it's in understanding, it's in acknowledging that the fuller part of the soul can move on and there can be itty bitty pieces that perhaps they don't even know about that got left behind because they need to process something else. And then over time, they can join up together. I never want to come across as some kind of like ghost savior. Like, I see ghosts handle their stuff on their own all the time and just move on and they re merge back with that soul, wherever it may be. Sometimes I can help with that and be like, hey, do you want to be here? Sometimes that's the only question. They need to be like, oh, wait, I don't want to. And other times they're like, yeah, there's something I need to figure out. And they're not bothering anybody, so they can just exist there and figure that out. But yeah, ghosts are fragments of the soul. They are fragments of memory. So that means they may not remember everything. They may not remember past a time in their life. Let's say that person lived until they were 80, but the person you're talking to is roughly in their 40s. They may not know all of that stuff. Other times they do. And, and the biggest thing that I want to implement here is that doesn't mean that everybody has a ghost. That doesn't mean that we all have to fear this. I highly. Just one of my pillars on my channel is mental health. Because if we can understand these big emotions throughout our life, once we get to the other side, we don't have to process them. They've Already been processed. [00:08:12] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:08:13] Speaker C: And then it becomes a choice. Do you want to stick around and hang out for a little while, or do you want to be like, ah, I see what I did there. Be like, I'm good. Pop out. [00:08:24] Speaker B: I love that. [00:08:25] Speaker A: That really resonates with me as well. Like, it just. It. I guess it just makes sense in a way that I've never thought of before, that when we encounter a ghost, it doesn't necessarily mean that. That it is separate from an. From the part of the soul that has maybe moved on or gone to the light, you know, in. In some other people's terms. You know what I mean? [00:08:51] Speaker B: I know exactly what you mean. [00:08:52] Speaker A: So when you're talking about ghosts, then that fragment that is, quote, left behind in our dimension, what does that mean in terms of the frequency of that piece, the density of that piece, and the mobility? Like, can it move around or is it stuck? Like, how do you describe that? [00:09:09] Speaker C: Yes. Okay, so this is actually when I get into the physics part of the book, which I don't think a lot of people think about the science behind spirituality. Right. Like, we're in such an exciting time. You know, people ask me all the time. They're like, oh, well, you know, which time period would you be in if you wanted? I'm like, for better, for worse right now. Like, we have the capability, we have brilliant minds. We have so much going on to actually look into the dark and understand what's out there. We only just discover dark matter. It's been there the whole time, and we don't need to be afraid of it. Right. Anywho. Okay, so the density of a ghost. [00:09:50] Speaker B: Yes. [00:09:51] Speaker C: That is the closest thing to us, right. When we're talking about density and frequency. So density, meaning, like weight, frequency. I like to think of, like, sound waves. Ghosts are heavy density, and they're low sound waves, or they're low frequency. With that, that means it can sometimes be uncomfortable to be around them. [00:10:15] Speaker A: Why? [00:10:16] Speaker C: Because they're pretty close to us. And especially for psychics who primarily focus in higher frequencies and higher vibrations, it can feel like a jolt if something comes by you. Sometimes some folks sit in a higher vibration. They don't even feel the ghosts go by because they're. They're on two different levels. Like, they're like boats pass into the night. [00:10:38] Speaker A: That makes a lot of sense, I'd [00:10:41] Speaker C: say, too, with that, the energy and the emotion that some ghosts do carry. Because I'm not going to sit here and be like, all ghosts are happy. Absolutely not. A lot of them Are confused. That's a whole other subject, though. They're still parts of us, and oftentimes they are the reminders of those parts of us that we don't like to think about because it's uncomfortable. You know, love lost, that's uncomfortable. The steps people take to not be around their situation, that's uncomfortable. Though. In my work, I found a lot of connection with people who do all kinds of death work. So we're talking death doulas, we're talking hospice workers, nurses. They are not afraid of those heavy feelings because they have seen firsthand the shift of the heaviness of the room, Perhaps somebody struggling with their health or people mourning that person. All of that is very heavy. But they can also, oftentimes, in some form or fashion, conceptualize the shift from the heaviness to the advancement of the soul. And so I tell people, I'm like, if you want to feel grounded with ghosts, talk to people who are around those heavy feelings. They'll tell you there's not a reason to be afraid. It's an incredible thing to witness, but you do have to get used to it. You have to acclimate yourself to it. [00:12:07] Speaker B: That's such a good point. In the book, you use an analogy of a tree to describe different types of entities. I'm wondering if you can explain that for us. [00:12:19] Speaker C: Okay, so with the tree, and I'll be using my hands. So anybody who can watch this, I'll be using my hands to the best of my ability. All right, with the tree, let's start from about where we sit as humans, which is above the roots, but we just. It's like literally sitting next to a tree. Right. If we want to get into heavier densities, it's just like going into the roots. And I always do this when I'm doing, like, workshops, and I'm like, let's get it. Like, we're going into sand a little bit. [00:12:52] Speaker B: Very I Dream a genie. [00:12:54] Speaker C: Yes. My preferred dance style. Yes, absolutely. Wiggling around. Now, here's the thing with getting into those lower densities, those heavier emotions, there's heavier states. It can be uncomfortable, because think about it. Roots are surrounded by dirt, and that's the point. They're supposed to be rooted. But keep in mind, you try telling a tree not to move if it's decided to move. You know, sometimes you see those roots exposed. Sometimes there are animals underneath that are, you know, helping to provide air to the roots. So I always tell people, I'm like, don't be afraid of being in the Roots being in those heavy emotions. Feeling the feeling of having that round around you. It's snug, but remember, it's. It's still safe. You're still in control of that. And how you decide to, like, dunk into that is really going to be up to you and your comfort level. So that's where ghosts are. They're down in that level. They're very grounded. They're very literally rooted here until something or another changes. From there, we get back up to where we are. You know, we're sitting next to the tree. From there, we get into past loved ones or really anybody who was incarnate. They moved on. That's like if you were, like, standing up on your tiptoes and maybe reaching a bit, like they're kind of up there. And of course, we're talking about the past loved ones that have processed things. You know, they've gone through their school of this is what happened in life, and they have gone to the next area. They're. They're doing better. We can still connect with them, right? They're still connected to our experience because they just had their own. But remember, we got to reach up a little bit to kind of connect with them. Next up would be spirit guides. I will say ancestors as well are kind of up there. So that's when we have to climb the tree a little bit more. It can be a bit uncomfortable, right, because we're used to being on the ground. But once we understand our footing and our setting, we can get up into the tree a little bit more. And from there, you know, we have a different perspective. We can look down at our life and be like, oh, that's what the top of people's heads looks like. That's great. You know, like, that's. That's the bird's eye perspective. That's the. Oh, I can see where that path goes. That's the perspective that they have to be able to assist us as they see fit. That's ancestors. That's past loved ones. We're moving up the tree from there. You're getting into the branches. You're in the area with deities, the. The demigods, what have you. Higher frequency. Just some of them are ancient, ancient beings beyond us being here as we are in our sentience level. Now. From there, once you get to the very top of the tree, that's where we get into collective consciousness. Some people refer to it as the light. And once again, the perspective from there is going to be very different. This is why where people channel is Going to matter because if they're channeling from a being that sits on the top of the tree, they might miss the roots. Because think about it, the top of the tree doesn't see the roots. Just like if they were talking to a ghost about God, Is the ghost going to be able to see God? Maybe, but they're probably seeing it from the perspective and the understanding that they had when they're alive, rather than actually being able to climb the tree and really get that experience for themselves. [00:16:23] Speaker B: As a psychic medium and a ghost hunter, what frequencies do you interact with the most? [00:16:32] Speaker C: Well, I, I travel on the frequencies and the densities. I like to stretch my ability because I like understanding stuff. [00:16:42] Speaker B: I love that. [00:16:43] Speaker C: Yeah. I regularly will ask like my guides to send folks to me that make me want to stretch my abilities. That's what I'm comfortable doing with ghosts as well as I would say some earth based inhuman entities, ones that are just really comfortable being here, that's going to be more down in the roots as well as down on the sitting area of the tree. So, like right above the ground. [00:17:10] Speaker B: Were you gonna say something? [00:17:11] Speaker A: No, go ahead. [00:17:11] Speaker B: Well, I'm wondering, as, as you are using the tree analogy, how do you ascend to these higher levels? Is there a tip that you want [00:17:23] Speaker A: to give us like a strategy for reaching different levels? Is that what you mean? [00:17:29] Speaker C: Good questions. Yeah. [00:17:31] Speaker A: Or even, Rebecca, like distinguishing when you're connecting, how do you distinguish what free frequency and what density that entity is? [00:17:41] Speaker C: Oh, okay. Well, for one, when trying this on your own, it's a matter of visualization. And for some folks, they, they don't visualize with their mind in the same way that others do. So I always say, talk to yourself in your mind. So I, I close my eyes, I get into a comfy spot, and then I visualize not so much being stretched, but like the feeling of me going up and feeling of me pulling up. I'm still rooted to the ground. I'm still in my body. I'm not just like leaving my vessel. Absolutely not. But I am stretching my perception, I should say. And here's the thing, it should never feel exhausting. Remember, there are very short trees out there too. It doesn't always have to be the tall tree. Good point. Yeah. I think sometimes we want to make it more difficult for ourselves because we're like, well, it has to be hard. No, not necessarily. [00:18:39] Speaker B: Love that. [00:18:41] Speaker C: And the other question that you asked, remind me what that question was about. [00:18:45] Speaker A: How you can tell. How you can tell like you're, you're interacting with a spirit. How can you tell if it is a higher density, lower frequency spirit or if it's something that's a little more ascended up that tree? Like, what are the markers that you're looking for? [00:19:01] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:19:02] Speaker B: Wow. [00:19:02] Speaker C: I love these questions. You're going for it? Yes. Okay. For me, I'm very clear, cognizant, very clairsentient. So, Claire, cognizant the knowing clairsentient, the like the feeling. I would say clairtangency as well. So like I physically feel. And it's a combination of all three. So most of the time all three trigger to the same. And they're all like checking each other off. They're like, ghost, ghost, ghost. Okay, okay. Other times I have seen, and this is very rarely gods can do this. Typically if they're trying to throw a curveball on occasion, because they do that, they might get a ghost frequency. But the clear cognizance comes in to say, hey, keep looking, keep investigating that. Now, once again, remember what I said earlier. I ask for these things to happen so I can be challenged. I don't think this is happening to everybody. People ask for different things. But yeah, it's. I. I'm so specific with how I adjust my frequencies and where I know I am. I am more in tune with where I am. Sitting at the base of the tree. That's. That's where I'm comfy and how I know what I'm talking to ghosts, they feel a little bit. They're just kind of like right there. I mean, especially when I'm in a very haunted spot, it's kind of like, all right, there's, you know, there's somebody over there. All right, there's somebody over there. Cool, cool, cool. If I'm talking to something higher, I. I get this almost like a feeling on the top of my head where it's sort of like a. Okay, we're reaching up. My body's teaching me that I'm naturally kind of reaching up. Same thing with my guides. Like, if they're coming through, they're not coming through from down there. They're coming through from like loop different places. Does that answer your question? [00:20:54] Speaker A: Yes, Yes. I love that. And also I'm thinking of my own experiences. And I'm realizing that based on your definition, I could be accessing both. I could be talking as a medium to the soul that is still connected to that piece of the high density, low frequency ghost entity as well. [00:21:18] Speaker B: Right? Yeah. [00:21:20] Speaker C: Some like fuller spirits or fuller souls, they do know what's going on with their spirit that's hanging out. Sometimes they might even leave a piece of themselves behind with us physically so that they can move on so that they can do something else Interesting. That being said, it's not always that way. In one of the examples that I give in the book, which was so just such an education for me, all in one, like 45 minute session, was where I connected with a past loved one, you know, higher frequency soul. [00:21:56] Speaker B: And [00:21:58] Speaker C: it wasn't clear so much that if he knew that ghost part of himself was down there, but as soon as I told him about it, he was. He sort of nodded and he was like, yeah, I remember that time. That was a really hard time. And so I got to have that conversation of like, hey, so do you want that back? Like, are you ready to process it? And he was just like, yeah, I am. [00:22:22] Speaker A: Oh, cool. All right, I get it. Very good. Jill, do you have any follow up questions on that piece? That's so much so enlightening. [00:22:28] Speaker B: No, I'm enjoying listening to you. I have a question. In my experience, I feel like the fragmented piece that is still hanging around lacks the nuances of the ascended soul, so. So they come across in a more aggressive or like, not like socially aware how to communicate, so they're more dramatic. Is that something that you experience as well? [00:22:55] Speaker C: Yeah. I would also say that has to do when we're in our emotions. Right. Think about when you're in a heightened state of emotion. Are you thinking about being friendly to other people? And then somebody rolls up, you know? [00:23:11] Speaker B: Yeah, that's such a good point. [00:23:13] Speaker C: That's just humanizing. That's the thing. Ghosts can be very scary. I was scared of ghosts for most of my life. I didn't understand them. And then I looked at them as people of a highly emotional state. And that's not to say, oh, we should let them walk all over us because they're having a bad day. No, we could have also had a bad day. We may not want to deal with that. We may not have the capacity for it. So just like, if you see somebody, like say you see somebody on the street and they're just like really, really angry, it is within your control to either stop and say, hey, can I do something for you? Just as much as it's within your control to be like, that's kind of scaring me. I'm going to walk on the other side of the street. I don't think that's for me. Both are options. [00:24:01] Speaker B: Good point, Jen. [00:24:02] Speaker A: Yeah. You discuss psychic development I love that about your book, the not so Scary Guide to Ghosts. For someone who is wanting explore and develop, it's a great resource. But you talk about finding a base point as kind of a prerequisite. So talk about what that means. Like, what. What does it mean to find your base point, and why is it important before you go off and look for ghosts? [00:24:26] Speaker C: Yeah, one thing with the base point, I realized that was a colloquialism that I was very familiar with from North Carolina. And then I was talking to my editor about it, and they were like, you need to explain what the heck a base point is. Which made me realize. I was like, oh. Like, I talked to my partner who's from Pennsylvania originally, and I was just like, does this make sense? They're like, no, you need to explain what a base point is. So I'm gonna throw that out now. I was like, everybody knows this. And people are like, no. So that's. That's one thing I'll point out. And I'm appreciative to my editor for being like, no, you really need to explain this. The rest of us. I love that base point in this context, in a spiritual context, means going back to you. So think of you as first base. Where are you coming from? These are your feelings, both emotional, physical. These are your thoughts. This is whatever's going on with you. And it's very quick to come back to one's base point. All you have to do is take a few moments, maybe do a body scan, go from the head all the way down to your feet, and be like, how we feeling today? I baby talk myself sometimes. I'm like, hey, brain, why are we going so fast? Like, what's going on? It's being able to just analyze where you are in your present. It's not to say, oh, you're perfectly, you know, on top of it. No, you might have a little bit of a headache, and your. I don't know, your toe might hurt from the day before when you stubbed it. We're not talking about perfection here. We're talking about present. So it's understanding. Okay, this is where my mind's at. My emotions, my physical body, what I went through today, all those little things. It takes, like, five minutes, probably less once you get more acclimated to it. And the reason why it's important is because you don't want to assign what's going on with you to what you're perceiving around you. People do that a lot with ghosts because ghosts remind us of Our own emotions. Right. Um, so let's say one person goes in, and they finally get to have that moment to perceive and be present. But they weren't checking their base point before. They might say, oh, oh, there's a knee pain here. There's a knee pain. Without taking a moment to recognize that perhaps that knee pain came from them hitting their knee against the desk earlier that day and then forgetting about it because life is very fast and loud. And then they get to that present, they're like, oh, this is what's going on. It's being able to say, was that mine before I walked in here? So that way you can allow the emotions around you to speak for themselves. Same thing with, you know, once again, an emotion. Anger. Okay, you might have had an angry day, but if you don't know that about yourself, and then you go into a spot and then you finally get that quiet moment to perceive, you may be getting your own anger, or your anger may be stirring up the other spirits, and then suddenly they're angry because they're empathic beings. So it can just enhance things. Or you might assign that anger onto something around you, and your read could be off. So going back to base point is really just saying, hey, this is where I'm at. So that way, if it's thrown off balance a little bit during your read, like, let's say you do read very clear, tangently, clairsentiently, and you start picking up on a physical pain of that spirit, you get to say, okay, I acknowledge that pain. I acknowledge the pain wasn't there five minutes ago before I walked in here. I can acknowledge it, I can release it, and then I can have a conversation about it. If that's what they're feeling like, it's really good advice. [00:28:22] Speaker A: So much of psychic development, I find, is starting with knowing yourself and looking inside. If you don't do that first, you're missing a big step. Thank you for that reminder. It's awesome. [00:28:33] Speaker B: It's also interesting how this conversation could be aligned with dealing with humans. Right. If you're not sure that you're angry, you can assign that anger to someone else in the room and hence an argument. Yeah. Or your sister. [00:28:52] Speaker A: Or your sister and partner. Yeah. Go ahead. Jill, based on your experience. [00:28:59] Speaker B: Based on your experience, do you believe that anyone could develop these types of talents to be psychic mediums to interact with ghosts? [00:29:08] Speaker C: I do. I do believe that anybody can do this. And it's because we interact with people every day. Ghosts are the closest parts that we have. I mean, they are literally sharing our plane of existence. [00:29:20] Speaker A: Do you think they're the easiest entities or does it depend on where you naturally vibrate? [00:29:26] Speaker C: I think it depends on where your mental comfortability is. If you are fighting the heavy emotions because you're not ready to get into that for yourself, you're not going to want to feel anything outside of you. That's a heavy emotion. You won't have the capacity for it. We have to heal ourselves before we can focus on anybody else. It's exactly as you said, Jen. Like so much of psychic development is the mental health journey. I wasn't able to open up to any of this until I started to acknowledge that I had a lot of feelings that I needed to deal with before I tried to understand somebody else's feelings. Going back to the question at hand, empath, let's start with that. Okay, so people say, oh, being an empath, some people said, that's something you're born with. And then as time has gone on, there's an argument that says becoming an empath is a learned ability based upon having to be hyper aware of your conditions. Growing up, having to read body language very quickly, like in a moment to understand, oh, I don't want to make them angry. It can be a taught ability as well. Now, can we also feel those emotions? Yeah, that's. I think that goes into more clairsentience though, where it's like you literally feel other people's emotions. Being an empath is also being able to understand other people's emotions. So from where I'm coming from, I'm like, well, that gives evidence for me that any of this can be taught. Thing is though, it doesn't have to be taught out of fear. That's a big important thing. I think for a lot of people when they're learning empath skills at a younger age, it's because they're afraid of something. It's because they don't understand something. For us, as we move on, we can be like, okay, I just need to be hyper vigilant when I'm going into a space so that I don't miss anything. I think we all have intuition. Everybody has gut feelings. And when I say gut feelings, I don't mean the train of thought that could very well be ourselves coming to our own conclusions. Mean you're sitting there in the middle of the day and some kind of information comes through. You just suddenly know something of, I have to call that person or I know where it is. Where does that come from? Like, our brains are powerful Things. And at the same time, our brains need a train of thought, otherwise they start going wonky and they start being like, oh, no, no, no, are you crazy? [00:32:04] Speaker B: Ah. [00:32:05] Speaker C: Like, our brains will go through all kinds of things to keep us sane and safe and comfortable. So when we get knowledge like that, sometimes it can feel really bonkers, but sometimes it's just accepted because it's like, oh, I do it. I do know I need to do that. So when we take that and we acknowledge it and we say, okay, what if I can go further? What if I can apply that? That's where we get into more psychic mediumship. And that's where I believe anybody who has an interest in this can absolutely learn, no matter what level they're at, it's just a matter of understanding their language. [00:32:37] Speaker B: Got it. Love it. [00:32:40] Speaker A: One of the other things that I love about your book is that you provide options for the individual reader. So in other words, you talk about the importance of, let's say, psychic shield protection, Right? So using a psychic shield to protect yourself. But you're like, it doesn't have to be a bubble of light. If you're into fantasy, it can be a dragon that you visualize. Or if you're into history, it could be a suit of armor, Right? So it's. You leave it up to the individual to determine and develop for themselves what resonates and therefore is going to be most effective for them. Why do you think this individualization of this process is effective? [00:33:27] Speaker C: It's a matter of trial and error. And I'm going to use medication as a metaphor here. Medication. You know, we go through the process, going to a doctor, we have to go to pharmacist, we have to check our healthcare. Like, there's a whole bunch of things we have to go through. And we're just like, okay, finally. So often we get to the point of getting that medication. We're like, this is going to do it. This is going to. And sometimes a weekend, you're like, absolutely not. This was not it. And that medication clearly works for other people, though. It's okay if it doesn't work for you, because we're all individual beings, right? It's just a matter of trying something new. Okay, so, for example, the ball of light, in my personal experience, I was using that for a little while. The way that I was using it, though, was actually attracting them to me. And so when I was walking, it was like this big ball of light. And then, like, all these treats and being like, hello. And that ball of light. Absolutely Works for so many people. That's why I include it. And I still utilize it on occasion. And I've also manipulated mine so that I'm on a particular frequency to be like, all right, you can come to me, but then you can get in line, because we're not going to bombard me all at once. That's not happening again. So, yeah, the ball of light very much works for people. A lot of people, though. For me, going into very haunted spaces but still wanting to conversate with these folks, I realized very quickly, I was like, oh, I need other options, and I need to feel empowered when I'm utilizing these options. Not everybody is going to feel empowered with that ball of light. Some people will. Absolutely. It works. Other people, you know, they need to get into that fantasy mindset. They might be like, whoa, I really, you know, love dragons as the example that you provided. Like, I love dragons. I love dragon scales. I know all about dragons. You know, like, all the stuff on. They're just like, I want armor made out of dragon scales. And it's, you know, maybe it's, like, sentient, and I can call upon that energy at any time, and I become the dragon. You know, something like that. I'm just like, yeah, go off it's energy. This is very much an energetic playground if we know how to utilize it. Ask any child what they do in their imagination. Kids are so powerful. I walked by. I was on the sidewalk the other day, and I walked by a line. I wasn't paying attention to it, but I stopped on the sidewalk, and I was like, that's weird. I don't know why I'm stopping. I looked down. This kid had drawn out in chalk. Stop. And they drew it out multiple times. Stop here. And you know what kids do? It's like, why? Why did they do that? Like, I don't know. But I stopped unconsciously without even seeing the line. I just was like, that's weird. And then I looked out. I was like, good job, child. You didn't realize what you did, but it sure did work. So, yeah, they can do it. They are more connected to their imagination and their abilities, and they understand this energy opportunity that we have here and that we have a responsibility to protect. So if they can do it, I don't see why we can't. [00:36:37] Speaker B: Right? [00:36:37] Speaker A: And you make it sound fun, too. [00:36:40] Speaker B: It's a lot of fun. [00:36:41] Speaker A: I love it. [00:36:42] Speaker C: The hero's journey can also be fun. If not, why would we watch a hero's journey where it's all terrible, all the time. Like, that's. That's a lot. It's true. [00:36:51] Speaker B: Do you have a follow up, Jen? [00:36:53] Speaker A: No, go on to the next one. [00:36:56] Speaker B: Okay. When attempting to connect with ghosts, you suggest bringing them offerings, which is lovely and I love that. So how are ghosts able to enjoy these items? Are they really consuming them? [00:37:14] Speaker C: My. My favorite phrase is spirits for spirits. [00:37:16] Speaker B: Now that needs to be a bumper sticker. [00:37:20] Speaker C: Spirits for spirits. Normalized spirits for spirits. Yeah, I did that. The Railroad Museum. My beloved Wilmington Railroad Museum, which I talk about in the book as well. I did a live there where I actually read the book. Do them. [00:37:33] Speaker B: Oh, I love that. [00:37:34] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, that was great. I got ghost feedback on my book. I was like, I'm ghost approved. This is great. [00:37:39] Speaker B: Yes. That should be somewhere on here. [00:37:43] Speaker C: Ghost approved. Yeah, ghost approved. Should there be an edit? There's like a number two that comes out. I'll be like, it is ghost approved. I have a video with, like a seal. Yeah. Ghost approved. Yeah. Well, what I did for them is I like some of them like me, but a lot of them are just like, okay, are we expected to perform? Like, what are we doing? I gotta bring some fun. I can't expect people just to wanna hang out. Some of them are just like, oh, it's Rebecca again. She's here to ask us about our feelings. [00:38:19] Speaker B: Like, oh, I love that. [00:38:22] Speaker C: So going back to your question and providing, like, food or an offering or something like that, do they actually drink it now? I do think it's possible in some spaces. Maybe if you leave something alone, like a shot glass alone, it might disappear. Okay. Like, I'm. I'm not beyond saying that. Have I seen it in front of my eyes personally? Not yet, though. I'm waiting. I would love to see that. I'd love to blink and be like, whoa, that's cool. It's coming. I know other people have experienced it, but I'll say from my experience, I haven't seen it yet. Now, can the liquid disappear? [00:39:00] Speaker B: Perhaps. [00:39:01] Speaker C: Perhaps. The main thing is when you're offering a, like, food or drink offering to spirit, oftentimes the luster of it changes. It might lose some of its color. I've also tasted some of the things that I provided to ghosts, and it doesn't taste good after. Like, I can have a bite before and be like, yeah. And then I give it to them and then I bite it and I'm like, [00:39:26] Speaker A: interesting. [00:39:27] Speaker C: I did this multiple times. I gave fries to a bunch of guys out at Fort Fisher. They drank my tea and I nearly spit it out on a live. Because I told them. I was like, don't drink my sweet tea. And they did. Somebody new came up. They drank it. They didn't know it wasn't an offering, and I drank it. I was like, just. But yeah. And I would say, too, this is not. This is not something new that I discovered. Like, it's not something where I'm just like, I was the first. No. There have been spiritual practices for thousands of years where they leave out offerings to their past loved ones, and oftentimes they will not mold when they are accepted by the spirit because the life of it has been absorbed. [00:40:11] Speaker B: Mm. [00:40:12] Speaker A: Wow. [00:40:12] Speaker C: That's cool. [00:40:14] Speaker B: It seems like you are very in tune to the emotional state of these fragmented entities that are still hanging around. What is your perspective on some ghost hunters that come in and antagonize the spirits? [00:40:31] Speaker C: I wish that those people could be treated the same way that they are treating others. I wish that they could have the experience of being in their home and being confused and having a bad day and then having somebody roll up and yell to talk to them and them not being able to do something about it. That's a matter of empathy. I. I feel so much for the spirits who have to deal with that. A lot of them can walk away. So I'm glad for that. You know, a lot of spirits do have the capacity to be like, I'm gonna go, absolutely not today. Yeah, not today. And it's not today, Satan. It's not today. Whatever y' all are doing. Right? I. I don't think spirits exist for our entertainment, and they certainly don't ex. They don't exist for us to feel empowered because of their existence. There's a lot of bullying that goes on there. There's a lot of, oh, what are you gonna do, ghosts? You're gonna kill me the same way you're gonna do that. What does that prove? It turns into a very, like, toxic kind of situation of like, oh, yeah, I'm big and bad. You can't do that to me. Like, what are you trying to prove there? Like, oh, good job. You didn't literally get killed by a ghost. Like, that doesn't make you any more powerful. You're going to go in and do that to somebody physically. That'd be interesting. [00:41:54] Speaker B: Good point. [00:41:56] Speaker C: Humanization. [00:41:57] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. That's one of my pet peeves, too. And. And I can't really watch most of the ghost hunting shows that are out there because so many of them are blatantly disrespectful as you know, to. To the spirits that they're trying to interact with in obviously in an attempt to create drama. Right. To get a big reaction. But still, it's. Yeah, it's one of my personal pet peeves. But along those same lines, in your book the not so Scary Guide to Ghosts, you outline eight steps for communicating with ghosts. Which of these do you think is the most overlooked by would be ghost hunters or maybe ghost hunters who are out there doing it. But maybe, you know, in. In your opinion, not like emphasizing some of the things they should be. [00:42:43] Speaker C: What are your thoughts? I really think it comes back to the self. [00:42:46] Speaker A: Oh, really? [00:42:47] Speaker C: Yeah. Knowing oneself first. [00:42:48] Speaker A: Okay, so that's the base point. [00:42:51] Speaker C: Yeah, that's the less flashy thing. And that's the thing. I'm not everybody's cup of tea, especially when it comes to like, quote, ghost hunting. Because they're like, oh, well, I. I didn't come here to know about me. And I'm like, well, you have to know yourself first. And they're like, why? I want to. I want to talk to them. I'm like, okay, yeah, failed argument, you know, from the beginning. [00:43:11] Speaker A: Yeah, I love that. That. [00:43:13] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:43:14] Speaker A: 100. I agree with you, Jill. [00:43:17] Speaker B: In your book the not so Scary Guide to ghost, on page 172, you mention that you do not generally prefer to visit famously haunted locations to interact with ghosts there. Why is that? Why do you feel that way? [00:43:32] Speaker C: I feel like I can't win. People already have their understanding of who that ghost was in life. You know, who that person was in life. And if I go to those places, I don't share those conversations. Generally speaking, I don't share them with a bunch of people because I'm like, I can't win. It's not necessarily like, oh, I didn't talk to that person, or I was wrong. It's that ghosts can also grow with time as well. And if you're looking at that person purely from a historical perspective, you might miss some of the information that was not written down. You might miss some of that context. The other thing is, I don't talk about folks that have, like, recently deceased if they are on a. Like in a ghost. Like, I, I do that for consultations sometimes, but on my channel, I'm not going to talk about somebody famous or other who still has living relatives. Like, even if I do go to some famous person's house and like, there is a piece of them there. Okay, cool. That was a personal experience. Why do I need to share that? You know, I've gone to places with famous ghosts, and I can still respect the history around that person and still acknowledge that the person that I met, maybe we didn't get along the same way. You know, I think, too, a lot of people will say they're talking to famous folks that they didn't know in life and they had no reason to, like, connect with and that kind of thing. I don't always know if they're doing it for the right reason, because when I'm talking about a ghost story, oftentimes I am talking about that spirit. I'm just sort of there experiencing it. I want to talk about them. I'm not trying to bring attention back to me as the, oh, she's such a great medium. She did this so well. Da, da, da, da, da. No, I'm doing it from a place of teaching. I want other people to do this, too, because if other people could have these connections, what a great world it would be like. We could talk about so much more stuff going on. [00:45:49] Speaker B: What type of environments do you prefer to investigate? [00:45:53] Speaker C: Ooh. I would say I love homes, honestly, because they are alive, whether it's a historical home or people are living in that home. And I actually get to talk about the connections between the living and the past. And I get to help not just facilitate them, but also help the living and the past to work with that connection together so that they can converse after I've gone. That's something I'm really passionate about as well as, like, there's some old, like, museums in historic buildings that I work with. That's also a very living kind of place. And there are folks that come and go from those places. And I'm the unofficial resident medium of a lot of places out here in Wilmington. They know if something goes weird, they can call me, and I'm like, I got it. Like, I'm there. [00:46:47] Speaker B: I love that. [00:46:48] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:46:50] Speaker A: So when you talk about validating your reads in the field, it sounds a lot like what Jill and I do for the Common Misconception podcast. We always go together so we can validate what each one of us is feeling. And we also obviously do the historical research afterwards. Right. Even though that is also intuitive, we often feel like we're guided through that. Do you find the same thing, like, when? [00:47:13] Speaker C: Absolutely, yeah. [00:47:15] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:47:15] Speaker A: I'm glad you get that. A lot of people don't get that, but we knew you get that. But one big difference is you often use tech in the field during your investigations, and we don't. So if you could tell us what Is your least favorite, favorite tech tool, tool or tools. And your most favorite tech tools. [00:47:34] Speaker C: Okay. I would say my favorite. I have two. [00:47:40] Speaker A: Okay. [00:47:41] Speaker C: One is. [00:47:42] Speaker A: I'm taking notes. [00:47:43] Speaker C: Yes. It's the old version of Phasma box, if you can find it. Which, good luck. It's. It's a PC program and as I said, it's the older version. The newer version. There's been some kinks in that, which I only just found out about. And I was like, oh, I just put out the book, but we live learn that sort of thing. So the older version of FastMobox, because it allows sound to come through in an easier way to understand than S box, Though a lot of people do prefer an S box to the Fasmo box. For me, S box makes me kind of want to go crazy because it's the. Yeah, I've got to be in a particular level of Zen to even try, but whatever. [00:48:24] Speaker A: Yeah, that's hard for me too. [00:48:27] Speaker C: This is why working on teams is so important. Because other people have the capacity to do that. But I'm just like, no, no, no, no, no, don't make me do it. Yeah, I would say Phasma box. And another one. Cat balls. The simple. [00:48:39] Speaker A: Yeah, that's fun. [00:48:42] Speaker C: Being able to put out the little touch lights in a row and see folks literally just walk by and trigger them as they walk by. It is so satisfying. [00:48:52] Speaker A: How do you feel about those EMF detectors with the lights that go from red to green? Red to green. We've luck using those. Yeah, you like those? [00:49:01] Speaker C: Absolutely. Yeah. I usually have one on hand and yeah, I've had some great results with those and all of these too. Very affordable. We're Talking stuff under 25 bucks. [00:49:13] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, that's what you want. You spend thousands to go out and [00:49:17] Speaker C: do this like you can, but easily, easily. I've seen some paranormal investigators. It almost turns us into this. You know how people. Some people are with their cars, they want like the most expensive and like put out car I've seen. Paranormal investigators that they're like, this is the tech that's $10,000. And I'm like, cool, I could pay my rent for five months on that. [00:49:40] Speaker A: Right. [00:49:40] Speaker C: But that's great for you. So glad you have that money. Nothing against you. I'm going to put that money, I mean, I could have an incredible vacation for $10,000. I could have like five incredible vacations. Like, same. Same difference in opinion. The thing I like using the least, which I don't even think I included in the book, it's I don't know what it's called, but I've seen it once. It makes stick figures in the dark. [00:50:04] Speaker A: Oh, really? I see that sometimes on tv and it's so dramatic. The stick figures. [00:50:09] Speaker C: Yeah. They're always, like, shaky. [00:50:12] Speaker A: Why don't you like those? [00:50:14] Speaker C: Well, in talking with other paranormal investigators, and this is where I am. I'm happy to be like I do in paranormal investigations. I would not necessarily refer to myself as an investigator because I'm there to perceive differently. And that's out of respect of what they do. You know, just. Just saying. Because I'm. I'm there to perceive. They're there for the evidence. And that can very well be two very different things. But they can. [00:50:39] Speaker A: That distinction. [00:50:41] Speaker C: Okay, keep going. [00:50:42] Speaker A: I really like that. That's good, because that resonates with me because I don't find my. I don't consider myself a ghost hunter. Right. But I like to hunt for ghosts. I don't know. It's weird. It's a weird distinction. You. You explained it perfectly. But continue. You were going to talk more about the. The shaky. [00:50:57] Speaker C: The shaky thing, yeah. I've talked to folks in the field who have hundreds of investigations under the belt, and that is not something that they tend to go for. Because while it's fun to look at for the typical person that's like, getting into it, wants to be excited and wants to be kind of like spooky, like feel spooky vibes, the validity of that particular device is really up for discussion. Okay. Sometimes it'll find stick figures in things that are there and. But we can't always see it because it's always in the dark. Right, Right. Which I can do investigations with the light on. It's great. I don't need to be in the dark. And honestly, if I'm in the dark, I'd rather it be pitch black. So then I'm not seeing, you know, some emergency light making my eyes do funny stuff that has nothing to do. That's spiritual, you know, Blindfold me. I prefer that. That's a personal preference, but, yeah, it is. I. I would like to normalize daytime investigations as well as investigations with lights on, because I like not bumping into furniture when I'm in a place. That's true. [00:52:19] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:52:20] Speaker B: We have some luck in the daytime. [00:52:22] Speaker C: Yeah, we do. [00:52:23] Speaker B: Yeah. So we share your perspective on meeting famous ghosts, and we love your story about Blackbeard that you share in your book, page 213. What other famous ghosts have you met? [00:52:39] Speaker C: Okay. So I love. And you Mentioned as well that you've had an experience with Blackbeard. He's all over the place. He is. [00:52:46] Speaker B: He really is. [00:52:47] Speaker C: Like, truly, what a vibe. And like, what. What? Beautiful. In my mind, proof that there can be multiple pieces of a soul imprinted on different places. I. I met the. I should say version of Blackbeard before his. What was it? The STD he had said. And then he, like, had his wild streak. I forgot. What. What was that? The syphilis? Yeah, before the syphilis hit his head. [00:53:15] Speaker A: Oh. [00:53:17] Speaker C: That's why he did a lot of the stuff that he does. Wow. Perspective, right? [00:53:23] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:53:23] Speaker C: Going insane. But, yeah, I met the version of him that still had, like, the power underneath what he was doing, but he was just like, I'm fishing. Whatever. Now, other famous ghosts that I've met, I have met Thomas Jefferson. [00:53:40] Speaker B: Oh. He has a lot to answer for. [00:53:41] Speaker C: Oh. That's why he doesn't leave his house in Monticello. He won't even go outside. You wonder why? Yeah. [00:53:53] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:53:55] Speaker C: I met his daughter, the one that handled the state of affairs after he passed. I met her out on the lawn, and. Oh, who else have I met? You gave me these questions beforehand, but. And I was thinking about it. I was like, who all have I met? I know I've met more. Wow. Maybe somebody in my brain is like, you're not talking about me. Good. [00:54:22] Speaker A: Most recently, Rebecca. We legit. Legit, no question. Had an encounter with James Dean. [00:54:32] Speaker C: Oh, Jill Teller. [00:54:35] Speaker A: It was. [00:54:35] Speaker B: No, you tell her. [00:54:36] Speaker A: Tell her, please. [00:54:37] Speaker B: I like it when you tell her. Please. [00:54:38] Speaker A: Okay, so we're James Dean fans. Have been for years and years. We just. And we were on the road. We just happened to stumble on his hometown by accident. And we're like, why are there murals of James Dean? And then before we know it, we are at this museum, happened to be open. We walk in. The lady behind the counter was so nice. And we are there surrounded by his stuff from his childhood photographs. A replica of his bedroom with his actual bed. It was all his stuff from his home. And there was just no mistaking that his energy was right there with us. It was something that was hard. It's hard to explain, but the feeling was completely different from any other encounter that we've had with, like, leftover energy from fans. Do you know what I mean? Like Al Capone. His energy has come through on different investigations. When we're doing, like, you know, a mob story comes up, you get this Al Capone energy. But I never really felt like the Al Capone was there with me that I was connecting with him. This was completely 100% different. It was James Dean in spirit and he was right there with us. [00:55:59] Speaker C: Okay? [00:56:00] Speaker B: And he has charismatic and that kid's going places. [00:56:04] Speaker C: I love that. Oh, my goodness. Thank you for sharing that story with me. And you saw my reaction when you said Al Capone. I was like, lol. Psychic. That's who I was thinking of because I forgot. [00:56:15] Speaker A: Did you connect with Al Capone? [00:56:17] Speaker C: I did. This is before I knew what I was doing. I was at. I believe it was Eastern State, Penn. In Pennsylvania. And I think, I think that was him. I think if somebody in your comment section wants to be like, he wasn't there. Sorry, everybody. It was maybe somebody else that I forgot the name of. I will own my. When I am incorrect. Absolutely I will own it. But assuming that was him at east eight Penny. This was before I had opened up. I was at the very beginning of my spiritual awakening or reawakening. So I didn't know any of the psychosins, nothing like that. And I did remember, you know, outside of the jail cell, they. They talk about like, this is the place. And sometime later I saw. Was it the track? No, it wasn't. It was. Anyway, I'm getting off, but I saw the sign. I was like, oh, he was in here. And then like I was alone in the cell for a little bit. And then it felt like. It felt like a guy was talking. But it was inner ear clear audience, though I didn't know at the time. And I kept getting that indication of like, oh, there's. I think a man is responding to my thoughts. But I didn't know what to do with it. And at the time I certainly didn't talk about it because I was just like, they say he haunts here. And there's this sort of like, yeah, I was like, that's. That's weird. I feel like somebody agreed with me there, but I have no quote proof. And I was just like, and I'm not psychic. Lol. Get out of there. It didn't scare me, but I was like, huh. That's interesting. [00:58:00] Speaker A: Crazy. [00:58:01] Speaker B: I love your awarenesses that you're so like, huh. Someone's answering back in my head, huh. [00:58:08] Speaker C: That is funny. [00:58:09] Speaker A: So cool. What about for the person who may just be coming to terms with their abilities? That person listening who's like, yeah, I think I'm psychic. I don't know where to go with it. What advice do you have for that person? [00:58:28] Speaker C: One. That's okay. It's okay to not know. I think a huge disadvantage that we do to ourselves is, as psychics, is make it look like we know and like we want to know for ourselves. Yeah, right. We want to know us. We want to know for ourselves, though. We also want to say, hey, I believe that. I know. Though I'm also open to having more understanding behind that knowing moving forward. So it's okay. It's okay not to know. It's okay to be like, I think, but I'm not sure. I think that's also a safeguard. It's honoring the part of our brain that's trying to keep us sane. That's saying, hey, you can't see it, therefore maybe it doesn't exist. You know, like, we want to honor those parts. We don't want to fight with our brains all the time because our brain is trying to keep us sane in a very insane world right now. But I think it's in honoring that, that's how we're able to actually move forward and say, okay, this is my brain. You know, they're trying to keep me safe. Good job, brain. What else? What else is out there? What if my brain could have this nice little area over here to be logical, and then my intuition can also have this nice little playground over here where it just perceives and it says, well, what if I was hearing something that was real? What if I was understanding an emotion that came from somebody? You know, that. That playful kind of what if? And then once you have the experience, that's when you can come back to your brain and be like, let's have a conversation. Let's have a come to whatever you believe in, you know, so I'm hearing [01:00:05] Speaker A: you say, one, don't take it too seriously. Have fun with it. And two, don't pressure yourself. [01:00:12] Speaker B: Right? [01:00:13] Speaker C: Yeah. You want to be as correct as possible, because that is. That's just honoring the. The emotion that's around you. That's you honoring yourself. But if you get so caught up in the correctness, you won't be able to actually perceive. [01:00:31] Speaker B: Right. [01:00:31] Speaker C: How do you listen? [01:00:32] Speaker A: Right? [01:00:33] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:00:33] Speaker B: Yes, yes. [01:00:35] Speaker A: Agree 100%. Jill, start off the rapid fire. Fun questions. [01:00:39] Speaker B: All right. What tarot card do you connect with? And why the star? Oh, love. [01:00:48] Speaker C: I like stars. I like glitter. I like shiny stuff. I have stars behind me. You can't see them because they're blurred. But, yeah, I like the star. Very baseline definition. [01:00:58] Speaker B: Love it. [01:01:00] Speaker A: Ouija board. Is it good or bad? And do you recommend it as a tool for connecting with spirits? [01:01:07] Speaker C: It is good if you Know the number that you're dialing. But otherwise, yeah, if you just open call it, what is it? Like Omegle or whatever. Like you. You might not get the experience you're looking for. So be specific. [01:01:22] Speaker B: Okay, that's a good point. Okay. What makes a good psychic and what signs of a good psychic and a. What are signs of a good psychic and a bad psychic? [01:01:32] Speaker C: Oh, I think what makes a good psychic is them also being a good, good person. Not just to themselves, but how they are psychic. It's possible that one day that that won't even be a job description. It'll just be something that we have. And I'm not. What's the word? I'm not challenged by that. I'm like, cool. Then we all get to use their psychic abilities in history and art and music and all the things that we're already using it for. So to me, a psychic is one who is working on themselves. One who is encouraging good mental health practices. One who understands where. What they are good at and what they're not so good at. So we're talking about, you know, say what, just say what you're good at. You know, you don't have to be good at everything. But also the psychic that is very clear on their bias. The psychic that is like, this is what I believe and this is the context of how I read based upon the beliefs that I have. [01:02:40] Speaker B: Got it. [01:02:41] Speaker A: I like that. [01:02:43] Speaker C: I think a bad psychic is somebody who's just not doing any of that stuff, you know, or the psychic who believes they have to sell because that's the only thing they can do. I. I don't think we should ever pigeonhole ourselves into anything like now. Is that the thing one feels most aligned in and they can do? Absolutely. But when we get into the realm of this is what I must do, my ability belongs to everybody else. I don't know. That was dangerous territory for me personally. So whenever I hear that from others, I'm always like, okay, well, okay. [01:03:22] Speaker A: So is there a mystical or woo woo theory that is just too out there for you that you don't subscribe to? Yeah or. [01:03:33] Speaker C: No, that's. Everything makes sense and is easier as soon as we die. I think that's very dangerous. There are people who, I mean, it's a reality. There are people who think that it'd be easier if they weren't physically here and that. You know what I mean? [01:03:51] Speaker B: Like, that's. [01:03:52] Speaker C: We're living in hard times. [01:03:53] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:03:54] Speaker C: And I don't mean to get dark though. I. I Feel for those people. And that mindset can be very dangerous. It's like, oh, if I just weren't here, everything will make sense, and I feel better. That's a very dangerous place to be in. [01:04:08] Speaker B: That's such a good point. Yeah. [01:04:10] Speaker C: I say mental health is easier to find here. Like therapists and counselors and support groups and help books. They're so much easier to find here because once you get on the other side, you have to figure out everything on top of all of that. And there are people there to help. But we want people to be here. It's challenging, but we're here to do it together. So stay. We stay. [01:04:33] Speaker B: How do you recognize the opportunity for spiritual growth and do you always embrace it? Or are there some times when you're like, I just can't today. It's just been a long day. I don't need this right now. [01:04:45] Speaker C: Absolutely. Oh, my goodness. 1. I got big boundaries. I don't let randos into my house. Absolutely not. No, no, no, no. Some psychics do that. I'm like, my house is mine. I live in a very haunted town. I walk outside. If I am not shielded, it will come like we will. That's it. And it's not always a bad thing, but it is the reality of the situation. So I call them office hours. I have office hours of when I talk to spirits. [01:05:13] Speaker A: I love that. [01:05:14] Speaker C: Yeah. If they're respectful, they will understand my office hours. I have some exceptions for, quote, emergencies, which often there's so few emergencies, we just feel like they're emergencies. Yeah. Those folks can connect with my guides, and my guides always have access to me, and they can give me the message. It's like having a receptionist. [01:05:36] Speaker A: I love that. [01:05:37] Speaker B: I love it. [01:05:38] Speaker C: Yeah. If I'm too emotional one day, I'm not going to do readings. If I'm too in my heaviness, how am I supposed to see outside of myself? How am I not supposed to paint that bias and everything? I'm so careful on where I am, where my base point is, before I do anything outside of that. [01:05:55] Speaker A: What psychic, living or deceased, would you most like to meet and or learn from [01:06:03] Speaker C: Harriet Tubman? [01:06:04] Speaker B: Oh, I love that. We totally believe she was psychic aft. [01:06:09] Speaker C: Yes. [01:06:10] Speaker B: Yes. [01:06:11] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:06:12] Speaker C: Oh, my goodness. She literally saved the lives of hundreds of people because she had intuition. I. She's one of my heroes. Like, absolutely. One of my heroes as a psychic, as a historical figure, as a woman, as a woman of color. Like, absolutely incredible. I would love to speak with her, but I also. I've never Bothered her, even though I've gone to places where she's been. Because I'm just like, I respect you. If you want to find me, you can. But I just respect you and I admire you so much. And I trust that whatever you're doing is exactly what you need to be doing because that's how you live your life. [01:06:49] Speaker B: Love it. Okay. If you had the opportunity to give a message to a new soul incarnating for the first time, what would it be? [01:06:57] Speaker C: Oh, I. I'd say it's okay to be different. You don't have to fit in. Maybe you're meant to find other people that fit in with you. And that may not come immediately, but sometimes that's the point. Be exactly who you are and trust that your people will come to you the more authentic you are to yourself. [01:07:26] Speaker B: That's wonderful. [01:07:28] Speaker A: All right, Rebecca, plug yourself. Where can our listeners find you and your new book? [01:07:35] Speaker C: Yes, okay. Well, you can find me.
